Newnham Civil Parish is in the Basing Ward of Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council and comprises the villages of Newnham and Nately Scures plus the tithing of Water End in Nately Scures, with about 440 registered electors. The parish extends westwards from the A30/A287 junction to the Lyde river in the west and northwards from the M3 to the boundary with Rotherwick - to the south of the grounds of Tylney Hall Hotel.

Homes in Newnham are around the Green, along Newnham Road, Newnham Lane, Tylney Lane, Ridge Lane, Crown Lane and the west side of Old School Road plus The Barracks. Commercial activities are centred in Fosters Business Park and the lane leading to The Barracks.

Properties in Nately Scures are predominately along both sides of the A30 and also in Blackstocks Lane and Heather Row. Water End includes a mobile home park, houses along Water End Lane and around the depot on the south side of the A30.
